Early Life
Kerri Mangold grew up in the suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin the daughter of regional music industry executives.
Kerri was active as a child in acting, music and art. When she was a few weeks shy of turning 14 years old the head of her drama school selected her to pose on the cover of a local weekend magazine that came out on Fridays. This opportunity eventually received attention from local modeling agencies and paved the way for a modeling career At 17 years old she landed a spot as one of the “Trendsetters” a panel comprised of fashion savvy teens who modeled in fashion shows at area malls and appeared at other events. She also competed in pageants and was a Finalist in the Miss Wisconsin America Teen and Miss US Teen Wisconsin.
College
After graduating high school she moved to Chicago to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (also known as SAIC) a college that has often been ranked as one of the best liberal arts schools in the country. It was as a student at SAIC it was suggested she shift her focus to writing was invited to join the staff for “F” the school newsmagazine and remained part of the writing team until she graduated. Kerri was recognized to be the first SAIC student to land an internship in the Public Relations department at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA). She earned a BFA degree in Writing and Visual Communications.
Career Highlights
In the late 1990’s Kerri and her cousin founded ‘Slack Girls’ a popular web site and online zine that was a hit among high school and college age readers. It was featured in Teen People online, Twist Magazine, Girlfriends LA and many other magazine in the US and Europe.
Acting/Theatre
Kerri returned to her childhood passions and studied playwriting/screenwriting at Chicago Dramatists and started acting part-time.
Kerri Mangold (now) is both a corporate professional in the nutrition/wellness industry and an actress in the Chicago tv/film industry.
